Create a Super Paper Plane

The Challenge: Create a Super Paper Plane and test your flying abilities.
- Use the instructions above or get creative to design and create a paper airplane
- Test it - send it flying and see how far it goes.
- Measure the distance and record it.
Can your plane fly farther?
Can your plane fly for longer?
Try making small changes to the design of the plane to make it fly even better.
Take notes on what changes improve the flight time or flight distance and produce the best plane!
Create, test and observe, brainstorm improvements, create again, test again....and see how far you can get your plane to go!
Share a picture of your design or a video of your test on Flipgrid.
- ruler/measuring tape
How does this activity connect to STEM and today's Girl Day theme of Imagining Beyond: Sky and Space?
Paper planes, commercial planes, and rockets all follow concepts of aerodynamics and physics. Engineers have to figure out the best ways to navigate the sky and beyond within these constraints. Engineers must know how to improve designs and take notes on why and how improvements should be made.
