The Challenge: Go on a scavenger hunt around your house for items that were invented by women. As you find these items, cross them off your bingo card until you win! Reflect on which items were your favorite, how you use them, and why they might have been invented. After you have explored what other women have invented, think about what you might invent for a home.
- Print out Bingo Card (linked or below) - Print the bingo card before you begin your scavenger hunt, and complete the reflection after you're finished
How does this activity connect to STEM and today's Girl day themes Designing for Communities, People, and Animals:
- Monopoly by Elizabeth Magie
- Computer software by Grace Hopper
- Home Security system by Marie van Britten Brown
- Dishwasher by Josephine Cochran
Scientists and engineers work to change the world around them and make tasks easier or create new devices, processes, or compositions. We have decided to focus on common household items to see how female inventors have affected your life!
